We’re putting out a call for any and all volunteers and especially sewers who are able to help us finish a large project. In the past, the baldrics and gauntlets were made by our uniform supplier, but this year we will need to design and make them ourselves. So we are looking for anyone interested in helping sew, whether it’s at camp next weekend, or even if we can send you work to do from home.
Also this next weekend at camp, we will be doing our annual plume building for our helmets. This is an assembly line type project. The more the merrier! So if you’re available this weekend, please stop on by.
Another successful season of the Phantom Regiment Winter Guard came to a close this past weekend at the WGI Championships in Dayton, Ohio, with the guard finishing in 10th place in the Independent World Division with a score of 88.00 for their production of “It Takes Time.” The 28 members of the guard opened their beautiful butterfly wing floor, got set in their cocoons and had an incredible performance Saturday evening. From the butterflies “emerging” to learning to “spread their wings” and fly, the show was breathtakingly beautiful in terms of both the guard work and the costumes and sets of wings.
With the winter season behind us we now look forward to the warmer summer months with the color guard being an integral part of the Phantom Regiment’s 2008 production of SPARTACUS! We will be holding a second audition for the color guard at our April 25-27 camp. If you are interested in auditioning please visit the “How To Join” link on the front page of the website and register today.
Drum Corps International learned through a local news story that Lucas Oil Stadium will not be ready for the championships as originally planned. So therefore, the 2008 Drum Corps International Championships will now take place outdoors at the Indiana University Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
Those that have already purchased championship tickets through the Phantom Regiment will still receive tickets in the Phantom Regiment block at Memorial Stadium.
