Robert Wassum

Robert began his marching career in 2008 at Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, FL.  In 2011 at the age of 16 he joined his first Percussion Independent World group called Timber Creek Independent from Orlando, FL.  Following his first season of indoor he marched his first year of DCI with The Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps from Jacksonville, FL at the age of 17.  In the winter of 2012 he joined the bassline at INFINITY Percussion leading him to march the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons with the PIW group.  In 2013 he marched with The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps instructed by Jason Hammond-Wood.  In 2014 he joined The Santa Clara Vanguard Percussion section under the instruction of Paul Rennick, Akira Robles and Richie Rodriguez.  They took home The Fred Sanford Award for high percussion at the 2014 DCI World Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. Robert aged out with The Santa Clara Vanguard in 2015.

Robert has been teaching at Oviedo High School from Oviedo, Florida under the direction of Mike Hansen since 2013.  He was a part of the percussion staff at Timber Creek High School under the direction of Josh King for their 2015 WGI season helping them achieve a gold medal in Scholastic A at FFCC Championships in Daytona, FL.  Robert has currently joined the INFINITY Percussion staff as one of the bass technicians for the world ensemble.

Robert is currently studying Architecture at the University of Central Florida with a minor in Urban and Regional Planning.
