John Wooton has a new publication out this month, “Dr. Throwdown’s Rudimental Remedies” (The rudimental method for what ails you!)
The 25 lessons in his book are organized so that each lesson focuses on a certain technique and/or rudiment. There are accompanying play-along tracks for every exercise and each track is set in seven different tempos starting with “Tempo del Learno” all the way to “Ludicrous Speed.”
There is also a two hour DVD included. “Dr. Throwdown’s Rudimental Remedies” is being published by Row Loff Productions. You can also find out more information on Dr. Wooton’s books and performances at his Web site (www.johnwooton.com).
Dr. Wooton marched snare drum with the Phantom Regiment from 1981 to 1984. He was the Percussion Caption Head from 1987 to 1989.
Excuse us for using those words so early – but you still have time to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Phantom Regiment. So if you want to get that last contribution in before the end of the year, you can mail a check to the Phantom Regiment, or even easier, make a contribution online.
Your support is so very needed for us to keep providing the life changing experiences for all of the young people that participate in all of our programs! Thank you in advance for your contribution!

The annual Nikki Ely Memorial Scholarship Winter fundraising event will once again take place during the week of the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention.
Please join us Friday, Dec. 17 at the Tilted Kilt, 17 N Wabash #620 in Chicago, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Join us for a casual get-together to celebrate Nikki’s life and the holiday season with friends, food and drinks. Donations for the Nikki Ely Scholarship will be accepted.
This will take the place of the Regiment Midwest Reception that normally takes place at the hotel. Due to the different sites between the Hilton and the convention center, it just doesn’t work anymore. So instead, we’re encouraging everyone to come mingle Friday night at the Tilted Kilt.
