The Regiment is no stranger to the RAMI awards having won two Outstanding Achievement awards in 2001 and 2003; four Music Outreach Organization awards in 2007 through 2010; and finally be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. Plus our very own Jim Wren (longtime music arranger) was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
The 2013 edition of the Regiment’s Show of Shows, presented by the Rockford Register Star, will be the 38th annual edition. Normally held at Boylan High School, but due to a scheduling conflict, the show will be held at Belvidere High School in Belvidere on Friday June 21, 2013.
Drum Corps International has created a petition to call March 4 “National Marching Arts Day”.
In order for this petition to be considered by the Obama Administration, DCI needs to collect 100,000 signatures by April 2, 2013. Help create this outstanding opportunity for our country to recognize the remarkable achievements of people engaging in the Marching Arts.
The 2nd annual NIU Concert Band Festival presented by the Phantom Regiment took place on Friday March 1st, 2013. In it’s first two years, the festival has doubled in size. This year’s performances by all the groups were outstanding.
This year’s clinicians were: Major Bryan Miller (Air National Guard Band of the Midwest), Steve Squires (Roosevelt University), Henry Kappler (Northern Illinois University) and Dr. Thomas Bough (Northern Illinois University).
The Regiment is proud to be able to provide such a great opportunity for local schools to perform in the beautiful Boutell Memorial Concert Hall on the campus of Northern Illinois University. (We also provide an opportunity for high school marching bands to perform in NIU’s Huskie Stadium in our Red & Black Fall Classic).
We would like to express our gratitude to all of the schools (middle school and high schools) that participated. Plus, we would like to thank all of the great volunteers who helped to make it a great day for everyone involved.
Of course, we are grateful for the clinicians for offering their expertise to all of the participating schools!
