Adam Norris
Percussion Instructor
Adam Norris comes to us from Shepherdsville, Kentucky. Recently, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Eastern Kentucky University. He studied intensely under Dr. Jason Koontz during his time at Eastern, where he was an active member of many performing ensembles such as the EKU Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, Symphonic and Concert Bands, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Band. Adam has received the opportunity to travel and perform with the EKU Steel Band twice at the Virginia Beach Panorama Festival, where he has played alongside globally acclaimed artists such as David Longfellow, Lord Relator of Trinidad, and Steel Pan virtuoso Andy Narell.
As well as this concert experience, Adam has an extensive marching background. Starting his career in 2008, he marched quads with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps. For the next two seasons, Adam marched in the Bluecoats quadline, being taught by Mike Jackson, Mike McKenna, and Tim Jackson. He recently aged out with a DCI Bronze Medal in 2010. In addition, Adam performed with the Rhythm X Indoor Drumline, receiving a WGI Silver Medal in 2010, and returned to finished his final performing season in 2011.
Currently, Adam studies with Dr. William Albin and Mike LaMattina at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, pursuing a Master’s degree in Percussion Performance.
