UPDATE 3/7/11: Dad update: Dad is finally alert & now settled in the rehab hospital. Mom reports he knows where he is & why. He is unable to speak due to the trach, but was able to mouth words to Mom and to answer YES/NO questions. His spirits seem good. She took along a small CD/radio so he could listen to music and NPR. He was able to choose among some of his favorite CDs Mom took along. When she left, he was listening to Phantom Regiment: Through the Years! Plan A is to wean him off the ventilator over the next week or two. This facility will help him gain strength and get him back on his feet. This will be a lengthy process with no exact time frame. I’ve heard great things about last night’s concert – very excited for the season! SUTA!

UPDATE 3/3/11: Here’s the latest update from Joan: “By Saturday, Dad will be be moved from the ICU at Shands and settled at
Select Specialty Hospital
2708 SW Archer Road
Gainesville, FL 32608

Mail can be sent directly to his attention there (the Shands message website page will no longer reach him).

The doctors anticipate he will be at Select for at least the rest of this month, healing and regaining strength. The lung, ribs and shoulder are progressing. The kidneys remain on strike. Mom is really looking forward to reading all the notes, cards and emails to Dad again now that he is starting to surface. She has put them all into a binder so that he can eventually read them himself.”

We will keep you updated as we get updates. Continue to join us in sending positive thoughts and prayers to him and the entire Lendman family!

Original Story from 2/17/11:
Bob Lendman (Director 1976-1981) is in serious condition after a motorcycle accident in Florida on Tuesday, February 15th. He was airlifted to the trauma center at Shands Hospital (University of Florida) in Gainesville, FL. According to Bob’s daughter Joan, he’s pretty beat up but has not lost the ability to harass the nurses.

Please join the Phantom Regiment in keeping Bob and the Lendman family in our thoughts and prayers.
