Brad Hughes
Brass Instructor
Brad Hughes, a native of East Texas, is currently an Assistant Band Director at Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas. He currently directs the Concert Three Band, helps guide the Bobcat Marching Band visual program, and assists the Jazz Band and other concert bands. In addition, Brad also teaches the beginning low brass class at Arnold Middle School (CFISD).
Brad finished his Bachelor of Music degree with All-Level Teacher Certification from the University of Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude in May of 2012. He began his drum corps career in 2005 as a tuba player with the Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps from Jacksonville, FL. He then went on to march tuba with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, IL in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. During that time, Brad had the pleasure of being on the leadership team and served as the tuba section leader his final three years.
Brad joined the Phantom Regiment educational staff in 2012 and worked as both a brass (tuba) and visual instructor. Prior to joining the Regiment, he worked as a low brass instructor in 2010 (euphonium) and 2011 (tuba) at the Arizona Academy Drum and Bugle Corps from Tempe, AZ. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, the International Tuba Euphonium Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Brad s personal and professional influences include his father and mother, Arthur and Ellen Hughes, John Benzer, David Bertman, Marion West, Mark Barton, Gabe Musella, Terri Risinger, Warren Seago, Christian Carichner, Dwight Emmert, and Tom and Heather Mensch.
