Brandt Crocker started in the activity in his high school marching band, then to his college marching band while attending on a music scholarship. After college Brandt taught high school in Hazelwood, Missouri (St. Louis County); North High School in Des Moines, Iowa and Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming. Along the way, he got involved with drill teams and in Des Moines was director of the all city Stepperettes Drill Team who competed nationally.

While in Des Moines, he “discovered” drum corps and became an instant fan! After getting to know Jim Jones, founder of the Troopers, Brandt moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1969 to become business manager for the corps and teach school. Mr. Jones recommended Brandt to the other founders of Drum Corps International to be the announcer at the first Drum Corps International Championships in Whitewater, WI in 1972. Brandt has been announcing at championships since and 2006 will be his 34th year!

Within the drum corps family, Brandt is or has been a show promoter (Tour Event Partner – TEP) with the Ankeny, Iowa show since 1982; a Drum Corps International contest coordinator; and served as Chair of the TEP Coordinating Committee for 5 of 6 years assisting with the creation of the TEP College that is held annually in January.

Brandt has recently retired after spending 22 ½ years in education as a teacher and superintendent, and owning his own residential painting and roofing for 22 years which he recently sold in January.

Among his other duties, Brandt also announces for WGI in color guard and percussion, high school band competitions as well as for the Marching Mizzou at the University of Missouri-Columbia each fall. Along with announcing responsibilities for Drum Corps International this summer, Brandt will also be the tour manager for Phantom Regiment.

Brandt and his wife Janet reside in Ankeny, Iowa. They have two children and five grandchildren.
