Eric Taylor
Visual Instructor
Eric Lee Gabriel Cardetti Taylor was born April 5, 1989, in Joplin, Missouri to parents Paul Gregory Taylor and Janet Marie Cardetti Taylor. He began studying trumpet privately in the 5th grade. In 2005, he became involved in Drum Corps International as a member of Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps from Lexington, Kentucky. He continued to march there until the corps was no longer able to field a summer production after their 2007 season.
After graduating high school, he began to study trumpet performance at the University of Missouri in Columbia (Mizzou). After his first year, he became interested in composition and theory and chose to pursue both. He returned to drum corps in 2009 and marched with Phantom Regiment. After the summer, he transferred to the University of Missouri in Kansas City to study composition with instructors Dr. James Mobberley, Dr. Chen Yi, Dr. Zhou Long, and Dr. Paul Rudy. In 2010, he marched his final season with Phantom Regiment as their featured flugelhorn soloist.
Since then he has continued his involvement with the marching activity by teaching Blue Springs High School’s marching band, The Golden Regiment, and arranging for several marching bands and choirs in Missouri and Indiana.
