Holly Maldonado began her drum corps career in 2006. Marching mellophone with SPIRIT from Jacksonville State University, she had the privilege of receiving instruction from Chip Crotts and Ray Vasquez. The following three summers, Holly marched with Carolina Crown where she aged out in 2009. With the guidance of Matt Harloff and the brass staff at Crown, the corps won the 2009 Jim Ott Best Brass award, a first for the organization. Last summer, Holly taught mellophone with the Blue Stars Drum & Bugle Corps.

A horn player, Holly is a recent graduate from Columbus State University, having earned a degree in music education. Since being at Columbus State, she has performed in the top ensembles including in the Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra and horn choir under the direction of Fred Cohen, Jamie Nix and Paul Hostetter. Holly currently studies horn with Jason Eklund but has previously studied with Kristen Hansen, Tom Witte and Jay Hanselman.

In the fall of 2008, Holly toured Japan performing with the Odyssey Brass Angels, an all female cast of brass, percussion and dancers. While at Odyssey, she performed on mellophone and horn.

Holly graduated from Kell High School in Marietta, GA under the direction of Wind Ensemble director, David McGrath. After graduating in 2006, she was on the educational visual staff for the marching band in 2008 and 2009. Spring 2009, she worked as a student assistant with the Daniell Middle School band in Marietta, GA with Danny Doyle and Laura Estes.

Holly is very excited to work with the students and staff at Phantom Regiment this summer.
