Joe Hobbs is currently the Director of Percussion at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY. Joe previously held the same position at Harpeth High school helping them reach WGI Scholastic open finals in both 2009 and 2010 as well as winning the WGI Southeast Regional Championships in both 2009 and 2010. He is also on staff at Music City Mystique as a snare technician, a job he has held since 2009. Joe has been teaching drum corps since 2007, when he was on staff at Southwind from Lexington, KY. Most recently Joe was the battery caption head for Spirit Drum and Bugle corps from Atlanta. As a performer, Joe was involved with DCI for six years. He was a member of Southwind Drum and Bugle from 2001-2003. During his time at Southwind he was named the 2003 DCI I&E Snare drum champion. From 2004-2006 Joe was a member of the Cavaliers. During his time with the Cavaliers Joe won 2 DCI world championships, 2006 DCI I&E mixed ensemble championship, “Cavalier of the Year” and the “Zildjian award”. Joe was also the drumline section leader from 2005-2006. Joe’s other teaching experience includes: Murray State University, Mt. Juliet High School, Marshall County High School, and Murray High School. Joe received his Bachelors of Music Education Degree from Murray State University in Murray, KY. Joe currently resides in Lexington, KY with his fiance Kara and their Great Dane Zeus.
