Jerry Fewell, who worked tirelessly for Phantom Regiment though much of the 1970s and early 1980s, died Monday morning in Rockford.

Jerry logged many hours as a volunteer for Phantom Regiment. He often toured with the corps and served as equipment manager during most of that time. Jerry usually could be found at the back of the equipment truck fixing broken horns and drums or whatever was broken.

He also was heavily involved with the transportation of the Corps. His wife, Ebba, often toured as well. And their children, Jeff, Ellen, Jared and Eileen, all grew up traveling with the corps and were members of either the Regiment or Cadets.

They were a true drum corps family in every sense of the word.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Salvation Army Church, 500 S. Rockford, Rockford. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

As a tribute to his years with the Regiment, a recording of Phantom Regiment performing Amazing Grace will be played.
