Being a native to the Chicago area, Mark is very excited and honored to be a part of the Phantom Regiment Percussion Staff. Growing up in the northwest suburbs, he attended Prospect High School where he was also a private student of Bret Kuhn. During his time with The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, they won back-to-back High Percussion titles, as well as a full corps World Championship. Mark was awarded 4th place in 1999, and 5th place in 2000 in the DCI I&E Snare solo competition. A graduate of The University of Kentucky with a degree in Percussion Performance, Mark studied under James B. Campbell as well as Eric Wille, Michael Aukifer, and Robert Parks. There were also multiple opportunities to be educated by Anders Astrand, and Michael Spiro. The UK percussion ensemble performed twice for PASIC during his time there, and won a third call for tapes. Before graduation, Mark competed in the 3rd World Marimba Competition in Stuttgart Germany. Upon graduation, Mark won a position with the Emmy/Tony award winning show BLAST!, as Marimba Soloist for their 2004 Tour of Japan. An active instructor, arranger, and adjudicator, Mark has been involved with music programs all over the southeast and the Midwest. He now lives in Atlanta, GA and is employed by South Forsyth High School as Percussion Director while working at North Forsyth High School, feeding middle schools and Georgia State University.
