Marty Hurley
Percussion Clinician

Marty Hurley, a graduate of Neptune High School in New Jersey, received his BME from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was a former member of New Jersey’s Hawthorne Caballeros and Blessed Sacrament’s Golden Knights before performing for four years with the United States Air Force Band.

Marty served as percussion instructor for the Stardusters (Arabi, LA) 1971, the Bleu Raiders (Metairie, LA) 1972-73, and the Black Knights (Belleville, IL) 1973-75. He also served as percussion instructor and arranger for the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps (Rockford, IL). During his tenure the corps placed in the top ten nationally for 14 years.

At the 2002 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Marty was a featured soloist on the Drummer’s Heritage Concert. For the past 32 years Marty has been the Director of Bands at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, LA.

As a member of LMEA (Louisiana Music Educators Association), Marty has served as 2001 – 2003 President of the District VI Band Directors Association. At the present time Marty is a Marching Percussion Clinician for Pearl Percussion, Sabian Cymbals and his music is published by Row-Loff Productions.
