Patrick Phillips
Brass Instructor

Patrick Phillips currently serves as the Director of Instrumental Music at Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, FL. His primary teaching responsibilities include the Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, 0 Hour Jazz Ensemble, and AP Music Theory. In addition, he is currently the coordinator of the Satellite Academy of Fine Arts; a magnet program focused on integrating the fine arts into the curricula of other academic areas. Mr. Phillips received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Florida State University. As an undergraduate horn player at Florida State he performed in the graduate-level Wind Orchestra and the University Symphony Orchestra. He also appeared as a guest solo performer with the University Singers, the flagship choral ensemble at FSU. He studied conducting with Dr. Patrick Dunnigan and was granted the privilege to study at the graduate-level with Professor Richard Clary.

Prior to his appointment at Satellite High School, Mr. Phillips was the Director of Instrumental Music at St Petersburg High School. There he was responsible for the entire band program and for starting a successful orchestra program. Ensembles under the direction of Mr. Phillips have received Superior ratings at the District and State levels for both the Florida Bandmaster s Association and the Florida Orchestra Association. This includes the first-ever appearance and Superior rating of the St Petersburg High School Orchestra at State Concert MPA Festival. Mr. Phillips has also led ensembles at various regional and national conferences including the National Band Association Southern Conference, the American School Band Director s Association National Conference, and the Florida Bandmaster s Association Summer Conference.

Patrick s drum corps career includes marching mellophone with Spirit from JSU in 2006, Phantom Regiment in 2008, and serving on the Phantom Regiment brass staff beginning in 2013.
