Phantom Regiment’s percussion section, fresh off its second Fred Sanford High Percussion Trophy in 3 years, will be among the featured clinicians at next month’s Percussive Arts Society International Convention.

PASIC will be held Nov. 5-8 in Austin, Texas.

Paul Rennick, a lecturer in the school of music at University of North Texas, is entering his seventh year as percussion arranger for Phantom Regiment. The Rockford, Ill.-based drum and bugle corps was crowned world champion at the Drum Corps International World Championships on Aug. 9 in Bloomington, Ind.

Rennick, who has arranged for Blast, Carolina Crown and Blue Devils among many other marching percussion ensembles, is a PAS Marching Percussion Committee member. His and the percussion section’s 50-minute clinic will focus on their winning program.

This will be Phantom Regiment’s fifth appearance at PASIC. The drumline and Rennick most recently presented at PASIC in 2005. Phantom Regiment also presented in 1981, 1984 and 1988 with Marty Hurley.

The clinic is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

PASIC is the world’s largest and most prestigious drum and percussion gathering that features more than 130 events on 13 stages with the leading artists from around the world in the percussion community.
