2024 GUARD AUDITIONS

To get started, sign in or create an account in UltraCamp (Phantom Regiment’s registration portal). Note: If the participant is under age 18, the primary individual on the account will be a parent or guardian.  

The audition material packet is $75. Once you login and pay the fee, the packet and any other informational resources will be emailed to you. 

By completing this step, you’ll also have access to our Facebook audition groups, which will allow you to interact with the staff, returning members, and other first-time auditionees as you work through the audition process. Already have an account? Login and purchase your packet now!

Your next step is to register for an in-person or video audition. The audition fee (whether in-person or via video) is $100. 

This year, we will be hosting a series of one-day, in-person auditions across the country throughout October and November. 

Please select one of the following locations to attend an in-person audition. 

Those in attendance at a one-day camp will be led through a stretch/warmup routine then learn choreography that will be performed in small groups at the end of the camp. Everyone will be required to audition on movement and flag. We will also be teaching weapon choreography for those who would like to audition on rifle and sabre.

Auditioning in-person is preferred but if you are unable to attend any of our one-day camps,  you may audition via video. The audition packet will explain the video audition process. Once your video is received, the Phantom Regiment guard staff will review your audition

For those who move past the 1st round of evaluations, further communication from the guard staff will occur to provide you with next steps. You will have the opportunity to begin learning rehearsal techniques, exercises, and choreography in designated Facebook groups with your section. Based on your performance, progress and development, you may receive a membership agreement to perform with the 2024 Phantom Regiment at any point during this process. 

The weekend-long camp for guard will be held in the Rockford area and is scheduled for: April 26-28

The final membership agreements will be awarded shortly after the April 26-28 weekend-long camp.  

The Weekend-long camp will be in the Rockford area and flights should be booked to Chicago O’Hare or Rockford airports. We will be unable to provide transportation from Chicago Midway Airport. 

There is a $200 camp fee for the April weekend-long camp. This camp fee is in addition to any tuition being paid through a membership agreement for the summer tour.  

Spring training will begin in late May for the entire corps.

Tuition for the 2024 season will be determined at a later date.

The costs to operate a world-class drum corps such as the Phantom Regiment are significant. Tuition and fees paid by members only account for a fraction of the costs associated with operating winter camps and the summer tour. We are still working through the details for 2024 tuition and will release this information once it’s available.

Please also consider your personal travel expenses to/from your audition site, rehearsal camps, and spring training/tour; as well as personal expenses such as mouthpieces, member jackets, tour spending money, etc. 

DCI limits the age of participants to 21 years of age and younger. A participant who is 22 years before June 1 would be unable to compete.  IF you turn 22 AFTER June 1st, you are eligible to participate in the 2024 season.

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for positions unless they believe they meet every one of the qualifications outlined in a role description. We are most interested in finding the best candidates for membership in our drum corps, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. We would encourage you to apply to audition, even if you don’t believe you meet all of the qualifications described in the application.

We also acknowledge that there are often barriers to participation in drum corps that we are unaware of. If you are experiencing an obstacle, please let us know by filling out this short form.

If you are invited to April camp (membership agreement or callback), you will be required to pay an additional $200 camp fee.

Yes, we will  accept video auditions throughout the winter and spring until all performer positions are filled. After you receive feedback from our staff, you may be asked to attend April camp before membership is confirmed. If you are offered a membership agreement, you will be required to attend the April camp.   

To audition by video, you will need to create an account in UltraCamp, purchase the audition packet material, and register for the video audition in order to submit your audition.

April camp will be held in the Rockford area and are scheduled for the following dates:

  • April 26-28 (all sections)

All 2023 members of Phantom Regiment in good standing will move straight to the callback round and are not required to purchase an audition packet or audition spot.  Eligible members will receive an interest link to provide information and their intent to participate in the 2024 process. No former member is guaranteed a spot for this season, and is expected to earn a membership agreement by continuing to grow to the highest level of achievement.

All spots are open for the 2024 season, including conductors. Phantom Regiment plans to have 165 performing members on the field in 2024.

Anyone between the ages of 14 to 21 may audition for the Phantom Regiment. DCI limits the age of participants to 21 years of age and younger. A participant who is 22 years before June 1 would be unable to compete. IF you turn 22 AFTER June 1st, you are eligible to participate in the 2024 season.

Packet, audition, and camp fees are not refundable. These fees are used to produce the high-quality materials, instruction, housing, and food we provide. We apologize for any inconvenience.
