Rick began his experience in the drum corps activity at the age of 15 as a baritone player for the 1992 Cadets of Bergen County. After graduating from high school he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he studied songwriting and vocal performance. While in Boston, Rick experienced color guard for the first time as a member of the Emerald Marquis Winter guard, where he spent five seasons as a member. In addition to marching winter guard, he spent two seasons in the color guard of the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps and one season with Brass Theatre (now the stage production Blast ).
Prior to working as the caption head of the Phantom Regiment Colorguard, Rick has designed and choreographed for many prestigious winter guards and high school color guard programs including the Emerald Marquis Winterguard, Chimeras Winterguard, The Knights (UCF) Winterguard, Phantom Regiment Winter Guard (2006 & 2007), Kennesaw Mountain High School Winter Guard, Kell High School, and has directed such programs as Lassiter High School, Westfield High School, and Harrison High School. In addition, he has choreographed and taught many successful drum corps color guard programs including The Cadets, Magic of Orlando, Santa Clara Vanguard, the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (2005-2007), and most recently, the Bluecoats.
Rick currently resides in Kennesaw, GA, is a student of Kennesaw State University, and is pursuing a B.A. in Theatre and Performance Studies. He enjoys music and enjoys writing songs and recording his own music. He has two dogs, Buckley and Simon.
