Eric Sabach – Development Director
When the Blue Man Group called the Phantom Regiment offices for our drum line to play at Northern Illinois University on April 4th to help promote their Megastar 2.0 concert tour, it was hard to say no, but we had to. Our drum line wasn’t around to help out. So, we called on our friends at Northern Illinois University. Director Dr Tom Bough and NIU drum instructor Phil Biel provided pre-show entertainment.
30 degree weather is not the best for drumming outside at all, but the NIU drum line did a great job entertaining people at the NIU Convocation Center before the show. Afterwards the members were treated to floor passes and a meet and greet backstage with the Blue Man group after the show. Thank you NIU from your friends in Rockford! Thank you also to Sue Silverstein from Blue Man (and also from Racine, WI and a fan of the Phantom Regiment) for reaching out to us.
“Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to play before the Blue Man show! It was a freaking blast to play yesterday, although the temperature was less than ideal. We had fun anyways. Thanks so much for the T-shirts and after show passes, that was such a great experience. The show itself was fantastic; I had never seen it before! Absolutely awesome. Again thanks for your time and energy and allowing us to have such a great time last night!” -Tyler Michie (NIU tenor line)
