Ben Carroll is a hornist and music educator living in Dallas, Tx. Graduating from the University of Texas at Austin(BM and MM), Ben earned two degrees while studying under the instruction of Patrick Hughes.
Playing the horn has taken Ben around the world to include performances in Japan, China, Taiwan, and England. Mr. Carroll has also performed in the Cactus Pear Music Festival in Fredericksburg, Tx, and the Hot Springs Music Festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas. As a freelance musician, Ben has worked with numerous orchestras throughout the Austin, Texas area including the Central Texas Philharmonic Orchestra, Brazos Valley Symphony, Mid-Texas Symphony, and the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. Ben is also a founding collective musician of the Austin based contemporary chamber ensemble, Density 512.
As a music educator Ben runs the Trophy Club Horn Studio in Fort Worth, Texas that is comprised of students from 6th-12th grade. Drum Corps has always been a passion in Ben’s life since high school and led him to march mellophone at the Santa Clara Vanguard A Crops from 2012-2014 as their mellophone soloist. In 2015 Ben was invited to join the Santa Clara Vanguard International Crops as their solosist for Vanguard’s international debut. After aging out, Ben immediately jumped to the educational side of DCI to teach brass at the Blue Knights 2015-2017. After BK, Mr. Carroll joined the Phantom Regiment brass team where he worked for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
