Juan Ventura was born in Santa Ana, CA and moved to Spring, TX at an early age. He performed with Spring High School under the direction of Chad Berkstresser for 3 years as a featured performer and soloist. After graduation, Juan enrolled in a local ballet school and began his formal dance training under former and current Houston Ballet dancers while also pursuing modern dance training at the University of Houston. He received dance training at the Ailey School before performing for two seasons with Open Dance Project, a dance theatre company based in Houston.
Juan has also performed with The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in the summers of 2011 and 2013, as well as Cypress Independent Winter guard in 2013 and 2015 as a featured performer and soloist. He most recently has danced in the Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival, Mind the Gap, Barn Storm Dance Fests, and was a member of the Cypress Alumni group which performed in the Pepsi Super Bowl LI Halftime Show. Juan has been a colorguard technician with a focus in movement training and choreography since 2011 and has worked with many local Houston area schools including Klein Oak and Friendswood High School, under the direction of Stephanie Chavez. He is currently a member of Encompass Dance Collective, based in Houston, TX, and at echnician at Friendswood High School. Juan holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology and has a special interest in dance medicine and science.
When he is not dancing or teaching, he works in clinical cancer research.
