Allan Dekko was born and raised in Louisiana. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he marched in the marching band and the winter guard L’Acadians. In Louisiana, he taught Thibodaux HS color guard for 10 years from 1980-1990. After moving to California in 1986, Allan worked with many different high schools and color guards including the West HS color guard from 1988 – 1992, the Palm Desert HS color guard from 1992 – 1998 and Diamond Bar HS from 1996 – 2000 where he was lead equipment technician, drill writer, then color guard caption head and visual designer. Allan has also served as equipment technician for the San Marino Academy of Dramatic Color Guard from 1992 to 1995. In 1999 he was a visual consultant for the Las Vegas HS and since 1997 – 2006 was involved with the Tournament of Roses Honor Band and Color Guard.
In addition to the many high school color guard programs Mr. Dekko has been involved with, he served on the WGI Board of Directors from 1998 – 1999. In 2000 Allan began work with the Santa Clara Vanguard Color Guard as equipment technician. From 2003-2005 Allan was the Tour Manager and 2006-2007 was the assisant Director for the Vanguard. He also worked with Esperanza de Luz & Millenia winter guards. Mr. Dekko was the rifle choreographer for Madonna. He worked with her and her 2004 Re-Invention World Tour.
He currently works with Rancho Bernardo High School, Arizona State University Sun Devil Marching Band, & The Academy World Guard. Allan currently resides in Las Vegas, NV.
