Drew Solomonson
Visual Instructor

Drew Solomonson has an extensive background in the marching arts. He began his marching career with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in 2001. A member of the euphonium section, he marched a total of four seasons in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005. After aging out with the corps in 2005, Drew began teaching both drum and bugle corps and marching band, working with both Phantom Regiment and Memphis Sound in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, Drew was named as the Visual Designer and Visual Caption head for the Memphis Sound Drum and Bugle Corps from Memphis, Tennessee. The corps won the 2007 DCI Division III World Championship, and was presented with the Best Visual Performance award for Division III. Since 2008, Drew has been a member of the Phantom Regiment Visual staff.

As a drill designer, Drew has been a designer for schools in several states, including Illinois, Indiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, and Texas. In addition, Drew also serves as an adjudicator and clinician for various competitions and festivals across the country. In 2010, Drew was a staff member at Collins Hill High School, a BOA Atlanta Regional Finalist. Prior to this, in 2009 Drew was the visual designer and coordinator for FJ Reitz High School from Evansville, IN, and from 2006-2008, he was the visual designer for Cordova High School from Cordova, TN. For 2011, he joined the instructional staff for Hillgrove High School from Powder Springs, GA. The Hillgrove Marching Band placed in the top 5 at the 2011 BOA Atlanta Regional.

As a winter guard designer, Drew has written for several groups across the country and is in high demand in the winterguard community. He began his winter design career in 2007 with the Cordova Independent Winter Guard, and he was the visual designer and program coordinator for the unit through its transition to Capella Winter Guard. In 2008, Capella Winter Guard was the WGI Independent A Class Bronze Medalists, and in 2009 the group finished as an Independent Open Class Finalist. In 2011, Drew joined the administrative staff for the inaugural season of Paramount Winterguard from Atlanta, GA. In 2012, Drew was named the Chief Financial Officer for the Southern Association for the Performance Arts, in addition to his continuing design for groups in the Southeast.
