Alejandro (Alex) Cruz was born in Mexico City, Mexico and was raised in Miami, Florida. During his childhood years, he was fortunate enough to live overseas in a beautiful town in the French Riviera called Mougins. He studied at the Centre International de Valbonne where he mastered the French language while remaining fluent in English and Spanish. He then moved back to Florida for a couple of years only to move again to Flower Mound, Texas. There he attended Marcus High School, where he joined the marching band his senior year as a performing member of the colorguard. He went on to perform two years with the Nolan Independent World guard where he served as captain in 2004. He also marched with the Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps in 2003 and the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2004.

In addition to marching, Alex continued his education at the University of North Texas where he received a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.

As a choreographer and designer, Alex has worked with Allen High School, Spring High School, The Colony High School, Richland High School, and the Ars Nova Independent A and Open Winterguards. He also taught the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps and it’s his second year on staff with the Phantom Regiment. He looks forward to another great summer with this wonderful group.
