The Texas Music Educators Clinic and Convention (TMEA) is one of the largest music education conference in the country, drawing attendees from all 50 states and from around the world. TMEA is a celebration of great music education, wonderful clinics, and is a time to renew old friendships and make new ones!
As the new Executive Director, I was looking forward to meeting with the Phantom Regiment corporate partners to introduce myself and put faces with names. However, I was not prepared for the onslaught of well-wishers over the three-day convention.
On my first day at TMEA, as I was walking into the convention center, it started: “Congrats on the Phantom job!” and “Hey! Great to hear about the Regiment job!” It seemed I couldn’t go 10 feet without someone stopping to shake my hand and offer up congratulations. And of course, there were questions I couldn’t answer, like “What is the corps playing this year?” and “What do the uniforms look like?” My standard answer was “You’ll just need to wait and see, but you’ll love it!” However, my favorite question was “Is it really that cold in Rockford?” Yes, yes, it is!!
I met with all of our corporate partners, wanting to know what the organization could do for them, to help grow their businesses, as well as find out what they do for us. Every partner told me how happy they are to be associated with the organization and how exited they are for the upcoming 2020 season.
My takeaway from TMEA – everyone I met LOVES Phantom Regiment and is excited to see what we put on the field this summer! I’m very proud to represent this organization and I, too, am looking forward to the future!
