Offered in partnership with Conn-Selmer, Inc., the PR Residency is a yearlong outreach program available to Illinois and Midwest area band and orchestra students. Ensembles enrolled in a residency program have the opportunity to meet regularly with Phantom Regiment musicians and staff to learn ensemble skills, rehearsal techniques, and individual practice skills. “Our goal is to assist school music programs, particularly in Illinois and greater Midwest”, said Stan Mauldin, Director of the PR Academy. “We want to help directors create [... Who would have thought a summer without a touring drum corps could be so busy? But, that’s exactly what happened.
In light of the ever-changing circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, Phantom Regiment has decided to cancel our fall marching band festival, the Red & Black Fall Classic, to be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. This decision was made with substantial consideration for the safety and well- being of our performing units, staff, volunteers, and attendees. While this news is sure to be a disappointment for many, we are hopeful that making this decision early gives all those involved ample time to adjust their schedules for the fall. [... Read More]

Drum corps, while influenced by many cultures of the world, is largely an American art form. As such, it is not immune to America’s challenges. And neither is Phantom Regiment. We have always been willing to have the sometimes difficult conversations that [... Read More]

After the devastating announcement last week that the 2020 drum corps season had been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we reached out to a few members to hear what they thought of the situation. Here's what they had to say; "This summer would have been my 5th and final summer with my Phamily. I have found love, belonging, confidence, and resilience, among so many other amazing things. It's tough for me to pick a favorite moment as often, I do not even realize how special a moment is until much, much later. I think the summer of 2019 was [... Read More]
To our alumni, fans, donors and the entire Phantom Regiment family: It has been an incredibly difficult past several weeks. We all have the same concerns about the coronavirus. It’s been near-impossible to avoid hearing about it every day. Those concerns led Phantom Regiment and other drum corps to cancel their March camps. As the concerns intensified, plans were in place to alter April camps and Drum Corps International had prepared for a July start to a shortened season. Unfortunately, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Drum Corps International and its member drum corps organizations have now decided to cancel [... Read More]
