Red & Black Fall Classic Canceled

2020-07-09T15:49:12-05:00July 10th, 2020|

In light of the ever-changing circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, Phantom Regiment has decided to cancel our fall marching band festival, the Red & Black Fall Classic, to be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. This decision was made with substantial consideration for the safety and well- being of our performing units, staff, volunteers, and attendees. While this news is sure to be a disappointment for many, we are hopeful that making this decision early gives all those involved ample time to adjust their schedules for the fall. [... Read More]

Statement from the Phantom Regiment Board of Directors

2020-06-12T09:20:58-05:00June 12th, 2020|

In 2016, the Phantom Regiment Board of Directors began to give earnest attention to how our own organization may be failing to live up to our publicly posted mission, vision, and values. We realized then, as now, that it is not enough to simply accept people of all colors, creeds, orientations, and genders as part of our programs. Drum corps, while influenced by many cultures of the world, is largely an American art form. As such, it is not immune to America’s challenges. And neither is Phantom Regiment. We have always been willing to have the sometimes difficult conversations that [... Read More]

Thoughts From Our Members

2020-05-04T13:52:37-05:00April 3rd, 2020|

After the devastating announcement last week that the 2020 drum corps season had been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we reached out to a few members to hear what they thought of the situation. Here's what they had to say; "This summer would have been my 5th and final summer with my Phamily. I have found love, belonging, confidence, and resilience, among so many other amazing things. It's tough for me to pick a favorite moment as often, I do not even realize how special a moment is until much, much later. I think the summer of 2019 was [... Read More]

COVID-19 Concerns Lead to Cancellation of Summer Tour

2020-03-26T12:30:33-05:00March 26th, 2020|

To our alumni, fans, donors and the entire Phantom Regiment family: It has been an incredibly difficult past several weeks. We all have the same concerns about the coronavirus. It’s been near-impossible to avoid hearing about it every day. Those concerns led Phantom Regiment and other drum corps to cancel their March camps. As the concerns intensified, plans were in place to alter April camps and Drum Corps International had prepared for a July start to a shortened season. Unfortunately, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Drum Corps International and its member drum corps organizations have now decided to cancel [... Read More]

2020-05-04T13:51:36-05:00March 23rd, 2020|

We have been hard at work over the past few months working on a whole new merchandise experience for our phans. A new name and fresh designs! The Phan Shop aims to generate revenue in support of Phantom Regiment’s mission: creating life-changing experiences through performing arts education. Additionally, the Phan Shop elevates and promotes the Phantom Regiment brand through increased visibility within the marching arts community and beyond. Phantom Regiment has run a profitable merchandise program for decades, providing program members, families, alumni, staff, volunteers, board members, donors, and phans the opportunity to support Phantom Regiment financially by purchasing a [... Dear Phamily, Like you, we've been closely following the ongoing coronavirus. There's been a lot of uncertainty about how this pandemic will affect our activity and our summer tour; we wanted to update you as soon as we had more information to share. Here's what we've been up to: In response to the most recent developments with the coronavirus (COVID-19), DCI held a [... Read More]

Austin PR Social

2020-05-04T13:49:45-05:00February 29th, 2020|

Phantom Regiment held its first "PR Social" in Austin, Texas on Feb. 25 at the very hip Cosmic Coffee Bar+Beer Garden. New executive director Stan Mauldin and visual designer Jeremy Hunt were in attendance to introduce themselves, and about a dozen came and enjoyed a couple hours of meeting other PR alumni and friends -- and discovering the many connections they have with each other. Numerous times, it was said that "we should do this once or twice a year." Plans are already in the works to organize more of these events around the country as there are Phantom Regiment [...
