Steven Estudillo

LOVES PARK, ILL. (Nov. 2, 2021) – Phantom Regiment is excited to announce two promotions and an addition to its visual team.

Steven Estudillo joins the design team as visual designer. Previously, he served as the visual designer and creative director of Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps and the visual caption head of Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.

“We’re thrilled to have Steven join our already outstanding design team,” said Tony Hall, program supervisor and visual director for Phantom Regiment. “He brings a wealth of terrific experience and creative energy, and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”

Estudillo has also been the visual designer for Pulse Percussion and Chino Hills (Calif.) High School for the past 10 years. He is a 2008 ageout of the Cavaliers. He lives in Ontario, Calif., with his wife and two children.

Jacob Taylor

Jacob Taylor, who has been a member of the corps’ visual staff since 2018, has been elevated to visual caption head. He works with numerous marching bands in Ohio and also has been an instructor and design with WGI Percussion finalists Matrix and Matrix Open. Taylor, who lives in Richfield, Ohio, is an alumnus of Capital Regiment and Glassmen.

Bob Smith

Long-time visual staff member Bob Smith has been promoted to visual coordinator. He has spent 35 years as a marching instructor, visual caption head, consultant, and drill designer for drum corps and marching bands around the country. Smith was the visual caption head for Phantom Regiment’s 1996 world championship season. He has also worked with Tar Heel Sound, Colts and Spirit of Atlanta. He aged out of Phantom Regiment in 1985. Smith, who is a retired math teacher, is a member of the Illinois Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame.

Founded in 1956, Phantom Regiment offers a world-class drum corps as its crown jewel. It also runs brass, percussion, color guard, drum major and leadership camps in several states as well as its Expert Learning Series under its Phantom Regiment Academy umbrella, drum corps shows in Illinois and West Virginia, a high school marching band competition, a concert band festival, and the Rockford Rhythm percussion ensemble for youth in Rockford.
